Frequently Asked Questions

A Learning Management System (LMS) is a tool designed to facilitate the administration, documentation, tracking, reporting, and delivery of online learning. Also called “e-learning”, the software provides a virtual classroom environment for trainers and training organizations that can be used by delegates to complete training courses.

Any organisation that provides training could make use of an LMS, particularly those organisations that:

  • Need to provide lots of on-demand training to low numbers of students (thus making e-learning a much lower cost and efficient training avenue).
  • Provide classes or courses that are particularly well suited to e-learning such as employee initiations or internal training.
  • Want to expand their business or offerings beyond their current geographic footprint.
  • Want to serve markets in languages that aren’t spoken by the trainers.
  • Want to design, build, and sell online content to other training organisations.

This approach is in response to one of the major problems facing the world today, and the growing number of people who, due to their special circumstances, including poverty, age, gender, religion, physical and mental disabilities, have access to education and the ability to afford it. To be respected, to be accepted in society, and ultimately to be deprived of active participation in individual and social life. With nearly 30 years of experience in both operations and research, I may have developed an all gray hair, but I’ve also learned a thing or two about what an effective, well-run board looks like. I’ve gleaned most of this hard-earned knowledge from witnessing what not to do — too many boards are poorly organized, with research syndication woes and an imbalanced composition of members.

Building a board is incredibly challenging, yet getting it right is critical to setting the tone for success from the start, elevating a burgeoning startup to the next level, and meeting the long-term needs of a rapidly growing research business.
