3/ Grammaire: Le nom
° MASCULIN ET FÉMININ DES PERSONNES: Le garçon est étudiant et la fille est étudiante. En général, pour former le féminin, on ajoute « -e » au masculin: un avocat portugais une avocate portugaise un ami aimé une amie aimée.
Parfois toute la terminaison du mot change:
Chilien -> Chilienne
Breton -> Bretonne.
un vendeur -> une vendeuse
un chanteur -> une chanteuse
un directeur -> une directrice.
En général, quand le masculin se termine par « -e », on change seulement l’article:

Let’s learn the rules to be able to recognise the gender of a noun in French. It can either be masculine or feminine.
° MASCULINE AND FEMININE OF PEOPLE:
The boy is a student and the girl is a student.
In general, to form the feminine form, we add “-e” to the masculine form:
a Portuguese lawyer – a Portuguese lawyer
a friend loved – a beloved friend.
Sometimes the whole ending of the word changes: Chilean -> Chilean Breton -> Breton.
a salesman -> a saleswoman
a singer -> a singer
a director -> a director
